Popular Colours This Week
We’re definitely heading into autumn now. Colours have been getting darker, warmer and cosier, with richer autumn shades starting to take over the nail desk. Cat-eye has been especially popular, sometimes worn on its own and sometimes layered with other techniques.
Nail Art Trends
Marble and blooming gel have both been making an appearance this week, alongside lots of those warmer autumn colours.
I also had a lovely catch-up with a client who works as a nurse and isn’t able to wear nails at work. She comes to see me whenever she has a long enough stretch of annual leave, and because she doesn’t get her nails done very often, she likes to make the most of it when she can. She was heading off on holiday this time, so we went for a sea and beach theme, complete with a palm tree and a tiny penguin wearing a scuba mask. Character nail art isn’t normally my style, but an exception was definitely called for!
News from the Studio
It’s been a nice mix in the studio this week, with regular clients, a few occasional visitors and a bespoke training session too. My student was already a qualified nail technician but had a handful of those niggly things she’d never quite managed to get master, so we built the session around exactly what she wanted help with. We covered chrome, French and builder gel refinement, working through each area together.
I offer bespoke training sessions for qualified nail techs who want one-to-one help with particular techniques or areas they’d like to improve, with the session tailored to what you actually need.
My online Autumn Nail Art Workshop and Halloween Nail Art Workshop are also both available now if you’re looking for some seasonal nail art inspiration.
And in completely unrelated studio news: the dogs are reunited! They’ve been kept apart while one was in season because Christmas puppies were definitely not on the agenda. They’re very happy to be back together and have mostly celebrated by snuggling up on the sofa.
Appointment & Training Bookings
I’m currently taking regular client bookings through to the end of November, with October now almost full.
December and Christmas appointments aren’t open yet, so if you haven’t booked yours, you haven’t missed anything. I am making a note of interest for clients who already know they have particular events or dates in December. I’ll do my best to accommodate these when the diary opens, although I can’t guarantee specific appointments until I see how everything fits together.
If you’re interested in an in-person training session, send me an email to have a chat about what you’d like to work on and we’ll try to find a date that suits.
Online education is always available through the website too. There’s no subscription or monthly commitment - you can simply dip in and out, choosing the course, refresher or workshop that’s useful to you when you need it.
Nail Desk Chat
Very autumnal conversations this week: who’s already booked the pumpkin patch, autumn/winter fragrance recommendations and some divided opinions on Ffern.
TV-wise, there’s excitement for the new seasons of MobLand and The Gentlemen, plus plenty of chat about the Ed Sheeran and Mis-Teeq dramas.
Nails I Wanted to Steal This Week
A warm autumn set from the start of the week with blooming gel detail on top. Rich, cosy and exactly the sort of nails I want at this time of year.
